"Wall-E" initiates his heart warming sequence on June 27th. Populating earth's 2815 landscape and the little boxy guy with sound is supervising sound editor Matthew Wood and sound soup/sound designer/mixer Ben Burtt. Both first-timers to Pixar, Wood supervised last December's "There Will Be Blood" while Burtt worked on the latest "Indiana Jones" flick released last month. Mixing for the "Wall-E" took place at Skywalker Sound with Michael Semanick, Tom Myers, and Burtt pushing faders. This marks Semanick's second Pixar stint including last year's "Ratatouille", while Myers adds a fifth romp though Pixar's universe. Original dialog recording was handled by Doc Kane. The Pixar veteran on the sound team, Kane recorded dialog for every single one of their feature films. Returning for his second Pixar adventure, Thomas Newman scored "Wall-E", after composing for one of my favorites, "Finding Nemo". Tracking took place at Pixar's usual orchestral stomping grounds, The Streisand Stage at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City.
